The Wellington Hang gliding Paragliding Club (WHGPC) has over 60 members and manages a number of flying sites in the Wellington and Wairarapa regions.

Many of these are on private land and the land owner needs to be notified before flying, so it is essential that visiting pilots contact a club member before flying in the region.

There are five coastal soaring sites and about 10 inland or thermal flying sites.

We look forward to you joining us.

The WHGPC objectives

1) To develop, protect and promote the sport of hang gliding and paragliding.

2) To foster harmony between club members, other members of the Association, the Civil Aviation Authority, public and local authorities, flying site owners and the general public

3) To encourage the sharing of knowledge and to promote safety consciousness generally within the hang gliding and paragliding movement.

4) To encourage adherence to the rules and regulations of the club and the association.

We are celebrating the first 50 years of free flying in New Zealand!
